SELECTION: The Founders' March. 2 Days, 50K, Brecon Beacons
Max 10 people. Vetted applications only. This is not a walk in the park, it's THE walk.
We're hiking the legendary UK Special Forces selection route through the Brecon Beacons. The same mountains, the same ridgelines, the same "why am I doing this" moments, minus the instructors screaming at you. Two days, roughly 40 to 60KM (we'll vote on the final route closer to the date, based on what works for the group), carrying everything you need on your back.
Who this is for. Ten founders, builders and people scaling something. That's it, that's the room. No sales chat on the mountain, no pitch decks, no LinkedIn. Just walking, proper conversation, camp food with a ridiculous view, and a night under Welsh sky with people who get what you're building. The best conversations happen at hour six of a hike, trust me.
The shape of it. Arrive in Wales the night before (book an Airbnb or hotel, we'll coordinate in the group so people can share). Fresh start by 8AM. Slow, steady pace with plenty of stops, this is a march, not a race. Camp overnight on the range. Finish day two tired, happy, and part of a very small club.
The honest bit. This is an informal, self-guided group hike. I know this route well, I've walked it several times and I'll lead the way, but I'm not a professional mountain guide and this isn't a commercial expedition. Every person on this trip is fully responsible for their own safety, fitness, kit and decisions. You'll sign a participation agreement acknowledging the risks before you come. Mountains are serious, we treat them that way.
You need to be able to: complete 50KM over two days carrying your own tent, sleeping bag, food and water. Fully self-sufficient, there's no Starbucks on top of a Welsh mountain, so you carry everything you need to survive. Full kit list sent after registration.
This is NOT suitable if: you smoke, you have health issues, you're not currently active, or you're treating this as a way to "get some exercise." You need to arrive fit and injury-free. No alcohol for 48 hours before we set off (heatstroke risk is real and we don't gamble with it). Electrolytes are mandatory kit. Everyone completes a short heat-safety questionnaire and briefing before attending.
Cost: £100 organisation fee. Covers the planning, coordination and admin of making this happen, and keeps the group committed (no last-minute drop-outs leaving nine people short). Non-refundable. Does not include accommodation, food or transport.
Transport: I'm driving and can take a couple of people plus gear. We'll organise car shares and split costs in the group.
After you register: applications are strictly vetted. Accepted people join a private WhatsApp group where we sort logistics, kit, travel and the route vote.
Ten spaces. When they're gone, they're gone. See you on the hill. 🏔️
