Stewardship & Discovery Day
Join us for native plant stewardship and an iNaturalist observation hunt! This Saturday morning, we’ll revisit our native tree seedlings to water and remove any resprouting invasive plants from our beach site. Afterwards, we’ll head out on an iNaturalist hunt, looking specifically for native plants and grasses, as well as any wildlife, fungi, or other interesting life along the way!
Are you into birds? Beetles? Lichenized Ascomycetes? Or just curious about the ecology of the American River generally? Whatever your persuasion, we’d love your help stewarding and documenting the biodiversity of Sailor Bar! No need for specialized knowledge or experience-- we learn as much from one another as we do from nature itself :)
--------
We will meet at 8:30am at the picnic tables by the Olive Avenue entrance and parking areas (8266 Olive Ave). After a brief introduction, we’ll head out on a walk together to the work site. (Please contact us if you’re arriving late and we’ll help you find the group.)
What to wear/bring: Sturdy shoes, water bottle, gloves, & your iNaturalist app
Curious about iNaturalist but not sure how to get started? Please feel free to join us and we’ll show you the ropes! I also recommend this super short introductory video. iNaturalist is available as an app (easiest), or you can bring your camera and upload to the webpage afterwards.
