About Event

Tour the Jacumba Mountains and In-Ko-Pah gorge – site of a future wildlife crossing structure – with a project proponent and regional conservation organization, Wildlands Network. Interstate 8 winds through this rugged canyon full of boulders, 4-ft barrel cactus and endangered Peninsular bighorn sheep. Learn about the bighorn ewe group that dodges traffic every year to raise their young and how the crossing project plans to protect their nursery grounds and the drivers travelling through it. You’ll learn why habitat connectivity equals climate resiliency in the hot and dry Colorado Desert. Learn more here: https://i8wildlifecrossing.org/

Stops will include: Desert View Tower, a scenic overlook of the Jacumba Mountains; the future wildlife crossing site, Imperial Valley Desert Museum, and the iconic Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel.

Jump on a bus, with local experts as your guide, for this unique conservation field trip to see firsthand the impact of wildlife crossings.
