Week 25: Era of Experience
Welcome to the Era of ExperienceIn their recently published paper, Silver and Sutton suggest that a paradigm shift from reliance on supervised learning based and human-generated data, toward the era of experience might be imminent based on advents in autonomous agents and RL.
The experience paradigm highlights key approaches such as reward based on experience of environment over human prejudgement, and non-human reasoning as essential factors in achieving the true promises of AI’s potential.
Whether this transition will unfold as smoothly or encounter unforeseen complexities remains an open question, but The Era of Experience offers a lens through which to observe and evaluate the rapid developments in agents that learn not just from us humans, but from their own interactions with the world.
