About Event

A walking tour on the history of lesbian Valencia Street and its intersections with the Nicaraguan Revolution, led by artist and poet Tatiana Luboviski-Acosta. We will meet at the corner of 16th Street & Rondell Place (in front of Mother), and serpentine our way along and around Valencia, Mission, and 24th Streets, eventually ending at Bernal Heights Park. With the exception of a 13% grade at the end, the majority of the tour is flat. Please bring water, snacks, and layers!

This walking tour is part of an experiment in public learning while researching a novel about lesbians in the Central American solidarity movement, and their lives on and around 1970s Valencia Street; and is generously funded in part by an artist grant from the San Francisco Arts Commission.
