A Beginner-Friendly Guided CTF with TryHackMe
Curious about cybersecurity but not sure where to begin? Join us for a practical, beginner-friendly Capture the Flag event where you will learn how web applications can be investigated and exploited in a safe, controlled environment.
Together, we will work through a web exploitation challenge using TryHackMe. You will learn how to approach a target, identify weaknesses, understand what is happening behind a website and use those discoveries to capture hidden flags.
This is a guided event, so you will not be left staring at a terminal wondering what to do. Every stage will be explained clearly, and you will be able to follow along, ask questions and learn at your own pace.
What you will learn
What a Capture the Flag challenge is and how it works
How cybersecurity professionals approach an unfamiliar web application
Basic web enumeration and information gathering
How common web vulnerabilities can be discovered and exploited
How to use clues, tools and logical thinking to capture flags
How to continue practicing cybersecurity after the event
Who is this for?
This event is open to students from every faculty and study programme.
No cybersecurity, programming or command-line experience is required. If you have never participated in a CTF or used TryHackMe before, this event is specifically designed to help you get started.
More experienced students are also welcome to join and work with others.
