How to Build a Private Archive From Your AI Conversations. Hands-on Workshop + Rooftop Drinks.
A first public preview of my latest project: Thought Archive
Like many others, I've been using AI chatbots regularly for the last few years: for various projects, brainstorming, and just generally figuring life out. At some point I realized I had thousands of conversations scattered across ChatGPT and Claude and no good way to search through them.
So I started building a private, searchable knowledge base out of my own chat exports. I named it Thought Archive, since I mostly use AI as a thinking partner to work through problems.
In this workshop I'll share what I learned along the way and what you can do with your AI history.
We'll look at what's actually inside a ChatGPT or Claude export, how to clean and organize it into a searchable format for your own use case, and see a live demo of how Thought Archive works for my purposes. We'll also talk about privacy, ownership, and what your personal AI archive could look like.
Schedule
18:00 Doors open. Grab a drink or a snack, and get to know the room
19:00 Workshop begins
20:00 Short break
21:00 Workshop wraps up
21:00 - 22:00 Head to the rooftop for drinks and conversation
This workshop is for you if you've also been using AI regularly the past couple of years and you're curious about how to own, search, and get more from that history. Bring your ideas and questions. All backgrounds welcome.
No laptop or technical skills necessary. This first session is about brainstorming through the outline of your own archive, not a technical tutorial.
For anyone who wants to build their own version afterwards, I'll share a GitHub repo and a guide to help you get started.
About Me
I'm a software engineer with about a decade of experience across the US and Germany. When I run into a problem without a good existing solution, I tend to just build one for myself. Last year I created the BGB Bot – a chatbot aimed at helping immigrants navigate the German Civil Code (BGB) in simple English, and I've spoken about it at GDG Berlin and Ojin AixHaus.
Thought Archive is my second project in this space, and a lot more personal. My hope is that it gets more people thinking about what they can do with their own AI history.
