From Prototype To Production Agents That Remember
Without memory, agents are incredibly wasteful. They crawl through the same codebase, reach the same conclusions they reached last week, then throw it all away when the run ends. This problem only compounds at scale, with larger teams spending more on rediscovering and context management across larger surface areas.
CrewAI and Dosu are both solving the memory problem for agents, but addressing two different use cases and therefore have each experimented with different solutions.
CrewAI: memory is a cognitive process inside the agent runtime and not just a database with a search bar.
Dosu: most of a coding agent’s cost comes from gathering context. Having proper organizational context and memory can prevent agents from continuously wasting resources each run.
Both problems get harder at enterprise scale, as hundreds, thousands, or even millions of agents are running side by side, each accumulating its own memory, with no shared answer to what the organization already knows.
