There’s a moment I love when someone walks into our studio for the first time.

​Wonderment, and a pull toward the barrels.

​They walk up to one, usually in silence, and run a hand along the staves, over the hoops and across the lips. “I’ve seen photos. I knew the dimensions from your site. But they don’t capture THIS.”

​Nature has a subtlety that can only be felt, never described.

​This November marks our fourth Austin Studio Tour, and it’s a milestone for us.

​We’re laying out the entire process from raw lumber to finished barrel. This will be a sensory experience. You’ll be able to walk through the shop, touch the wood, see the pieces at different stages, meet the people working on them, see the tools and jigs we use, and follow how a tree becomes something you can bathe in.

​Bring your curiosity, your questions, and maybe a friend or colleague who’d find the process fascinating.
