Faster Discovery, Better Discovery?
Product discovery has always been the first thing to get cut. Never enough time, never enough users willing to talk, and a roadmap that was mostly decided two quarters ago anyway.
Now AI promises to fix all of it: interviews transcribed and synthesised in seconds, personas generated on demand, synthetic users who are always available and never cancel. Discovery has never been this fast. But a faster route to the wrong answer is still the wrong answer.
So is AI actually improving our discovery, or just making its artefacts look more convincing?
If you're doing discovery in a team that expects you to move faster than ever, this edition of The Impostor PM Club is for you. No demos, no tool sponsorships; we’ll talk about what people are actually doing and what actually broke. We'll cover:
Where AI genuinely earns its place in discovery, and where it quietly tells you what you want to hear
Synthetic users: real shortcut, or expensive roleplay?
The parts of discovery that still need a human in the room, and how to defend that time
Come with one discovery question you're genuinely stuck on: a segment you don't understand, feedback you can't make sense of, a feature request you suspect is a symptom of something else. We’ll discuss how you can solve it together, give you a working block to attack it with whatever AI tooling you each use, then reconvene so groups can share what worked and what produced confident nonsense.
You'll leave with a partial answer to your own problem and a much better sense of where these tools actually hold up.
