Building a Better Social Media with Retro - presented by 886 Studios
The team behind Retro, the hit photo-sharing journaling app, is coming to Taipei!
Social media was built on a promise to help people feel more connected. But somewhere along the way, that promise got distorted. What began as sharing our lives with friends slowly became a performance, and now lives in a jungle of content served by an algorithm that forces everyone including strangers, advertisers, and increasingly AI to compete for attention.
Retro was built as a response to that. It's a friends-only photo journal and recently hit #1 on the Taiwan app store!
Join us for a fireside chat with Nathan Sharp (CEO and co-founder) and Ryan Olson (CTO & co-founder), to hear the story behind the company, the thinking and philosophy that shaped the product, what they believe is broken in social media, and what it takes to build in consumer social.
Hosted by 886 Studios (ikigai Launchpad), this event is designed for founders, builders, operators, creatives, and others in Taipei’s startup ecosystem who are interested in product, community, and the future of social.
