About Lab2Market Validate
Lab2Market Validate is a four-month national program that equips research teams with the skills, funding, mentorship, and customer discovery experience needed to assess the commercial potential of their research. Each team, consisting of a graduate student and their faculty supervisor, receives $10,000 in funding to conduct a structured, evidence-based market validation process while developing the entrepreneurial skills needed to translate research into real-world impact.
As an academic partner, YSpace, a division of the Office of Research and Innovation at York University, delivers the Ontario cohort of the Lab2Market Validate program in partnership with Lab2Market a national initiative dedicated to helping graduate students and postdoctoral researchers explore entrepreneurial pathways and transform research discoveries into innovative products, services, and ventures that address real-world challenges.
About YSpace
YSpace is York University’s pan-university entrepreneurship and innovation hub supporting startups and entrepreneurs from a variety of sectors and communities. Our programming spans across scaling innovative technologies through customer and investor capital to scaling agri-food businesses into mass retail to diversity-focused initiatives like ELLA for women-led businesses and in partnership with Black Entrepreneurship Alliance (BEA) for Black-led businesses. We are also home to two physical hubs in the City of Markham and the Town of Georgina.
