Could your idea be a Focused Research Organization? A hands-on workshop for scientific innovators
What kinds of research ideas are best suited to a Focused Research Organization—and could yours be one of them?
This hands-on workshop will introduce the FRO model, explore the kinds of ambitious scientific and technological challenges it can support, and help participants think through whether their own idea might be a fit. The workshop is a precursor to our exciting collaboration with Venture Café Edinburgh, happening later in the evening. After the workshop finishes, head up the stairs to their neurotech-themed Thursday Gathering and learn more about FROs and the work being done in the Scottish neurotech scene.
We’ll also share more about Convergent Research’s FRO Founder Residency and how it can help turn promising concepts into actionable plans.
No fully formed FRO proposal is required—just a compelling research idea and curiosity about the model.
Date: Thursday, October 29
Time: 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm - snacks provided
Location: The Edinburgh Futures Institute, 1 Lauriston Pl, Edinburgh EH3 9EF, United
Who should attend: This workshop is for scientists, engineers, founders, and other research innovators with an ambitious idea for addressing a significant scientific or technological bottleneck. It may be especially relevant if you’re exploring a large-scale, engineering-heavy project that doesn’t fit neatly within a university lab, conventional startup, or existing institution.
