RBESNA Symbolic Fencing Installation with NYC Parks and NYC Plover Project
Join the NYC Parks Wildlife Unit and NYC Plover Project to install stringline fences in the Rockaway Beach Endangered Species Nesting Area (RBESNA) for Piping Plovers and other shorebird arrivals to Rockaway Beach! All are welcome to join. Please note that you must be wearing closed toed shoes and come prepared to be outside and on your feet and mobile for the duration of the event. Please pack water, snacks, sunscreen, and dress appropriately for the temperature as we know March weather can vary. Potential rain date of March 30 or 31, will be confirmed if needed.
We will meet on the boardwalk at Beach 44, right by the Arverne East Nature Preserve. The Beach 44th St stop on the A line is a 2 minute walk away. There is also a free parking lot onsite at the Arverne East Nature Preserve, but note parking spaces may be limited.
Please reach out to [email protected] and/or [email protected] with any questions.
