About Event

Join us for another inspiring Geospatial Community of Serbia Meetup, bringing together enthusiasts and innovators from across the geospatial ecosystem.

For this event, we're focusing on ideas straight from the lab. 🧪 Put on your lab coats! Our speakers will walk us through the research shaping the geospatial world and show how the results look in practice.

The event is free to attend, but spots are limited. Make sure to register on time!

Agenda:

18:00 - 18:20: Meet & Greet

18:20 - 20:00: Speaker slots

20:00 - 21:00: Networking

Talks:

🎤 Entity Resolution in the Wild: Learnings from Venue Deduplication at Scale - Stefan Hačko, Data Scientist @ Foursquare

How do you decide whether millions of messy venue records refer to the same real-world place? This talk covers large-scale venue clustering, fuzzy matching, graph-based deduplication, trusted identifiers, and the edge cases that make “same place decision” surprisingly hard.

🎤 Measuring route-planning performance: benchmarks, mass tests, and telemetry - Nikola Marinković, Software Engineer III @ TomTom

How do you measure the performance of route planning, when there is no single correct answer? We do it in layers: benchmarks on every pull request, mass tests over a fixed set of routes, and telemetry from real drivers. Each layer answers a different question, each is honest on its own, and each has deceived us. Let's talk about what every layer catches, what it hides, and how we separate a real regression from everything else.

🎤 Why is my package late and stuck in a locker across town - Milovan Kovač PhD, Research Scientist @ Mily Tech

Real parcel-locker networks are rarely designed with perfect foresight. Demand changes over time, and a network gradually shifts out of shape without proactive planning. Strained networks ultimately lead to your package being stuck somewhere. Readjusting a locker network is a hard combinatorial problem because it must account for multiple factors at once. Mily Tech has developed an efficient framework that manages to repair a network regardless of its chronicity.
