About Event

We're excited to invite to invite you to Public Environmental Data Partners' (PEDP's) workshop on Building Better Environmental Justice Data Tools on April 22 in Washington, DC during Climate Week! The second in a yearlong series, this is an opportunity to co-design and develop EJ data tools that better serve communities, researchers, advocates, and policymakers.

When: Wednesday, April 22, 2026丨9:00am-5:00pm ET

Where: Washington, D.C. Venue details to follow.

Please register by Sunday, April 5, 2026.

Stipends and Travel Support: Each participant can opt in to receive a $200 stipend as a token of our appreciation for your time. We can also offer limited support for participant travel. You can indicate in the registration form whether either of these are of interest.

What to expect: Participants will learn more about PEDP's work stewarding federal EJ tools (such as CEJST, EJScreen, EJAM, and the National Risk Index) and data taken offline in 2025, and discuss lessons from recent discovery research. You will also have the opportunity to share your experiences using tools such as these in the past, and envision ways to improve them so that they are relevant and useful to you and your communities. We will share a more detailed agenda and recommended information to review ahead of the workshop.

Why attend: Your input will inform PEDP’s work to co-design environmental data infrastructure that is resilient, federated, and rooted in community priorities. We will translate your insights into design features and new tool concepts or prototypes. We will also synthesize lessons into a “What We Heard” report and design roadmap summarizing shared priorities, design principles and next steps for tool refinement (expected in Fall 2026). We will leverage these resources to inform the development of updated versions of the EJ data tools discussed, or possibly something completely new, which PEDP aims to demonstrate in late 2026. This work will also inform PEDP’s look ahead into the future of sustainable stewardship for these tools that ensures their usefulness and accessibility.
