SEED Neighborhood Tour with Michael Geselbracht
by Donation: to the SEED Neighborhood Coop Welcome
Where: meet at Bing Kee Food Forest
The Tour explores the S.E.E.D (South End Ecological Development - Seedncoop.online) Neighborhood which surrounds Bayview Elementary School. Over the past 13 years, it has been transforming into what many neighbors envision as an Urban Ecovillage; a beautiful food abundant landscape, with salmon filled stream, neighbours who visit each other and celebrate often, where art is seen and felt wherever you go, where people walk and bike because they feel safe and inspired. On the tour, you will visit numerous food forests and ecosystem restoration areas that students and community members have laid their hands and hearts to. You will walk the paths that have been created to offer children a safe and inviting way to get to school and back and everywhere in between. You will hear the layers of stories that, compounded over time, have shifted the baseline for how this neighborhood now looks and feels.
Your Host: Michael Geselbracht is an aspiring village maker, an American Suburban Dream retaliator, planting forests of food for future generations future appreciations and for fresh local produce that doesn't break his bank limitations. He educates from within the S.E.E.D. Neighborhood with gem-like mulberries dripping from branches, or at seasonal celebrations under leaf canopied skies. Building meandering trails leading to nowhere fast, soothing senses from car ridden hot-as-hellscapes, Michael is riddled with infectious rhymes informed by the unwalled school of nature. Hailing from unsettled settler root stock, Michael grew up on Snaw-naw-as and Snu-neymuxw lands where he increasingly answers to the call of the wild, even when whispered from cracks in the sidewalk.
