Building something can be exhilarating. It can also be uncertain, messy, and surprisingly lonely.
Founder Fridays | San Mateo is an informal gathering for founders in the surrounding area to come together, talk about what we're building, share what we're navigating, and help each other along the way.
No pitches. No panels. No need to have everything figured out.
Come as you are, bring whatever you're working through, and spend a couple of hours with people who understand what it's like to build something from the ground up.
What happens at Founder Fridays?
We'll keep it informal and let the needs of the people around the table help shape the conversation. We might:
Share what we're building and what's happening right now
Talk through a challenge or decision
Ask for feedback or fresh perspectives
Swap resources, tools, tips, introductions, and opportunities
Celebrate wins (big and small)
Talk candidly about the realities of being a founder
Help each other figure out what's next
The idea is simple: come with something you need and something you're willing to share.
We want you to leave feeling a little more connected, a little more supported, and reminded that you don't have to build alone.
Next MeetUp: Friday, August 21 | 4–6 PM | Downtown San Mateo, CA
We'll generally gather outdoors when the weather cooperates, with an indoor option when needed. The exact meeting location will be shared with confirmed attendees.
Locations will be within a short walk of Caltrain, with nearby options for car and bike parking.
Bring your own water or snacks, or grab something from one of the nearby businesses. We're intentionally keeping Founder Fridays simple and low-cost so participating doesn't become another expense of founder life.
Who is this for?
Founder Fridays is for people actively building a company, venture, or organization who want to be part of a generous, participatory founder community.
You don't need to have raised money. You don't need a huge team. And you definitely don't need to have all the answers.
We simply ask that you come ready to participate, support others, and contribute your own experiences, ideas, connections, or perspective.
We're planning to gather at least two Fridays each month, so join us when you can.
