Midsummer Viewing Party — Paintings by Alex Z. Wang

​A one-night viewing of paintings by Alex Z. Wang at 20 Fifth Avenue, hosted by Dr. Viviane Trinh.

​A dozen works from the Luminous Currents and Deep State series. And for one evening they’ll be joined by a group of small canvases finished this summer, out of the studio for the first time.

​Wang is a painter and the founder of Collective Z, a contemporary gallery on the Lower East Side. He works in oil, ink, and charcoal — layered, atmospheric abstraction built up over many sessions.

​The setting is part of it. These paintings are seen the way people actually live with them: in a room built for something else, at close range.

​All works are available. Wang will be present throughout the evening.
