Translating lab-speak into compelling business narratives is one of the hardest challenges for technical founders.
AI helps with the deck or website, but pitching and narrating are more human-dependent. It's possible to become better at it with practice.
DeepTech Open Mic is a storytelling workout room designed specifically for deeptech and science-led founders to practice storytelling and strip away jargon in a safe, low-stakes environment.

How It Works:
The Pitch: 8 early-stage technical founders/researchers will deliver a pre-prepared 7-minute pitch about their work. To force reliance on narrative arcs and analogies rather than technical charts, we encourage not using slides, or a maximum of 3 slides.
The Ask: Every pitch must end with a highly specific "Ask" (e.g., "I need an intro to a polymer supplier," or "I need a better way to explain X").
The "Pay-It-Forward" Session: Following each pitch, 1-2 Guest Anchors (CMOs, GTM experts, or investors) and the audience dedicate 7 minutes to offer immediate feedback. All feedback is framed entirely as "Gives"—such as narrative tweaks or resource introductions based on asks.
Silent Feedback: During a 60-second transition between pitches, the audience can submit rapid-fire, anonymous feedback via a QR code.

Pitchers: The event is curated for deeptech/science early-stage founders, researchers, and amateur storytellers to test their messaging before taking it to investors or the market.
Audience: Deeptech and science-led founders, researchers, and operators. Whether you are pitching or in the audience, come ready to support and strengthen the deeptech ecosystem actively.
