"Between life and death there is a library... and within that library, the shelves go on forever."

What if you had the chance to step into an alternate reality and see how your life would have turned out if you’d made different choices? Undo your biggest regret? Pursue that abandoned career? Marry the ex?

This month, we’re diving into Matt Haig’s international bestseller, The Midnight Library—a fast-paced, high-concept novel that explores regret, mental health, and what actually makes a life worth living.

📖 The Details

  • Book: The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

  • Length: 304 pages (~7 to 8 hour read / audiobook available!)

  • Pacing: Easy-to-read, light speculative fiction with massive real-world discussion potential.

💬 What We’ll Be Talking About

  • The "What-Ifs": If you could open a book and live out one decision from your past, which one would you look up?

  • Regret vs. Reality: Does perfection actually exist in alternate choices, or do new paths just bring new problems?

  • Perspective Shifts: How do we stop romanticizing the paths we didn't take and start appreciating the life we're building?

RSVP below to grab your spot and get the weekly reading breakdown! Bring your thoughts, your favorite quotes, and your own "what-if" stories.

🗓️ The 4-Week Reading Schedule

The book is divided into four manageable sections of roughly 75 pages each, making for about 1–1.5 hours of reading per week.

  • Week 1: Pages 1–74

    • A Conversation About Rain → The Three Horseshoes

    • Focus: Nora’s breaking point, entering the Midnight Library, confronting her regrets, and stepping into her first alternate life.

  • Week 2: Pages 75–149

    • The Penultimate Update Nora Had Posted Before She Found Herself Between Life and Death → Island

    • Focus: Nora begins testing very different versions of her life, including paths shaped by relationships, travel, success, and the expectations of others.

  • Week 3: Pages 150–224

    • Permafrost → Buena Vista Vineyard

    • Focus: Nora ventures deeper into the possibilities of the library—meeting another traveler, experiencing fame and other seemingly ideal lives, and discovering the trade-offs hidden inside them.

  • Week 4: Pages 225–End

    • The Many Lives of Nora Seed → How It Ends

    • Focus: Nora’s search becomes more personal as she confronts what she truly wants, what makes a life meaningful, and ultimately whether she wants to keep living.
