As global trade, supply chains, and cross-border capital continue to evolve, foreign direct investment is playing an increasingly important role in California’s economy. In 2026, 19,717 foreign-owned enterprises (FOEs) support 847,245 jobs across the state—more than 33,000 additional jobs compared with the previous year—and contribute approximately $96.2 billion in wages.
