The Future of Research Management
As AI makes it easier to produce polished and persuasive proposals, what will evaluators look for next?
This AIRON presentation will explore how generative AI may reshape research evaluation, funding processes, and the role of research managers and administrators. As proposal writing, coordination, compliance checks, reporting, and strategic analysis become increasingly AI-supported, the value of RMA expertise may shift towards judgement, credibility, governance, institutional knowledge, and responsible decision-making.
The session will also consider how funders may respond, including stronger verification requirements, greater emphasis on track record and institutional capacity, new transparency expectations around AI use, and possible changes to peer review and assessment criteria.

🎤 Speaker: Mads Lykke Berggreen
Mads Lykke Berggreen has been integrating AI tools into his practice as a research advisor since the first ChatGPT model became publicly available. He currently serves as the team leader of VIA University College's pre award team and as chair of the Danish Association of Research Managers and Administrators. Mads has appeared in Danish and international media with a focus on AI in research support, is a contributor to the European Commission's guidelines on the use of AI in research, and is co-founder of the EARMA Thematic Group on AI use in Research Management.
