Grounding Climate Week: A Biomimicry Equinox Gathering

​Monday, September 22 marks the fall equinox—arriving at exactly 2:19 PM.

​Step outside with The Biomimicry Institute for an hour and a half of connection—with nature and with one another. Designed specifically for those who are new to biomimicry, this intimate and nature-immersive gathering offers a peaceful moment to slow down, ground yourself, and recharge in one of New York City’s most iconic green spaces at the start of New York Climate Week.

​We are excited to be joined by Eric Sanderson, inaugural Vice President for Urban Conservation Strategy at the New York Botanical Garden, who will lead a guided walk through the area and share insights into the ecology of the city. Eric is a renown New York City ecologist, known for authoring Mannahatta: A Natural History of New York City, which became a New York Times bestseller, and The Welikia Atlas and Gazetteer: A Guide to New York City’s Indigenous Landscape. Eric Sanderson holds a Ph.D. in ecology, with emphasis in ecosystem and landscape ecology, and has published extensively in wildlife and landscape conservation, with over 90 papers, book chapters, and technical reports.
