Development Drinks: First-Mile Climate Solutions
Join the GlobalPDX community for this special edition of Development Drinks, featuring a short film and roundtable discussion on first-mile climate solutions.
What can we learn from remote communities around the globe mobilizing to build infrastructure in harmony with the environment?
What can we do to support these communities without reinforcing colonial patterns?
Even before USAID was dismantled there were big discussions going on about localization, more aid going directly to local actors. As we envision the next chapter of international cooperation, how can we lean into our values and support change that makes a real impact?
We’ll kick off the evening with a 10-minute film from Green Empowerment that highlights local leaders in rural Puno, Peru organizing to build and sustain solar-powered clean water systems. Then we will break into roundtable discussions using the film as a reference point. This is not a lecture; it’s an opportunity to learn, question, and share. We expect a full house, so register today to claim your spot. See you there!
