Buildings Cause a Third of Global Emissions. Where's the Capital?

​The built environment accounts for more than a third of global carbon emissions. Portland has been a leader in the space trying to solve this problem: one of the first cities in the country to adopt embodied carbon reduction targets, the Port is converting Terminal 2 into a mass timber research and manufacturing campus, and the timber economy is fueling a growing cluster of low-carbon materials companies.
