Measuring what we remove: Carbon Dioxide Removal and Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage in National Inventories - IPCC Methodologies
This session introduces the IPCC Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (TFI), which develops the internationally agreed methodologies used by Parties to the UNFCCC and its Paris Agreement to estimate national greenhouse gas emissions and removals. The TFI Bureau will present the outcomes of the Expert Meeting on Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies and Carbon Dioxide Capture, Use and Storage, and what to expect from the forthcoming Methodology Report on Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies, Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories, due in 2027. It will also show how IPCC-backed methodologies can serve as a common standard beyond national reporting, strengthening buyer and investor confidence, and will touch on the Working Group I and III contributions to the Seventh Assessment Report.
