Tools for Navigating Change and Staying Strong in the In-Between Zones
Whether you’re managing a prolonged job search, a difficult workplace, a layoff, a role that doesn’t fit, or just a growing realization that you need something new, this session will help you understand the brain science operating behind it all, and provide quick structured writing protocols you can use whenever you need to steady yourself and keep moving.
You’ll leave with:
- A clearer understanding of how our brains respond to uncertainty, change, and setbacks
- A way to recognize when stress is distorting how we see our options
- Quick writing tools for regaining steadiness, staying resilient, and persevering
- Prompts for interrupting unproductive thought loops and reducing mental overload
- A repeatable practice for connecting with strengths and creating next actions
This is an interactive session with repeatable micro-writing protocols, grounded in neuroscience, designed for people interested in how to navigate change, setbacks, and new beginnings.
Participants will also receive a complimentary JournalingFix guide containing the writing practices used during the workshop, so you can easily access the tools throughout job searches, workplace challenges, and future periods of change.
Target Audience: Women going through transitions - job loss, job searches, needing a change from a current role, or working on starting something new
Speaker Information: Áine Kmen is the founder of JournalingFix and a speaker and workshop facilitator based in San Diego.
JournalingFix is a system of science-backed writing protocols targeting the specific cognitive states that drain high performers - from task avoidance, circling thoughts, and scattered attention, to productivity during unstructured time and finding ways to persevere through change.
She spent the last decade in high-pressure work inside early-stage startup teams across the US, EU, and Brazil. Áine’s work now focuses on the brain science behind why writing works as a performance tool, what AI is doing to cognitive load in our workdays, and how short structured writing protocols give people a practical way to quickly reset their internal systems.
