Illinois Digital Asset Tax Act with Jonathan Schmalfeld
Join us for a timely discussion with Jonathan Schmalfeld, Policy Director at The Digital Chamber, on Illinois’s recently enacted Digital Asset Tax Act.
The Digital Chamber has taken an active role in opposing the new law, including filing a legal challenge seeking to halt its implementation. Jonathan will discuss The Digital Chamber’s concerns with the legislation, why the organization decided to challenge it in court, and what the law could mean for digital asset businesses, blockchain innovators, and users in Illinois.
We’ll also have an opportunity for questions and discussion about the broader implications of state-level digital asset policy and what this case could mean for the future of blockchain regulation in Illinois and beyond.
NOTE: Champaign Blockchain and the University of Illinois Research Park are not taking a position for or against the Digital Asset Tax Act or The Digital Chamber’s legal challenge. Our goal is to provide a forum where our community can hear directly from people involved in important developments affecting blockchain and digital assets. We’re excited to hear Jonathan’s perspective and to have an informed discussion with our community.
Whether you work in blockchain, are interested in public policy, or simply want to understand what Illinois’s new digital asset tax could mean, we hope you’ll join us. Please RSVP so we know how many to expect. Lunch will be provided.
