Panel Discussion: Resilience & Preparedness in Europe’s Energy Transition
Europe faces renewed geopolitical tensions, climate-related disruptions, digital vulnerabilities and fragile supply chains. In this context, sustainability, energy security, resilience and competitiveness are increasingly interconnected priorities.
Co-organised by EERA, SINTEF and EASAC, this panel discussion will explore how Europe can strengthen energy systems’ resilience, integration and preparedness to ensure a secure, affordable and sustainable energy transition.
Building on recent scientific analyses from NTNU/SINTEF, EASAC and EERA, the discussion will address the following questions:
• How can resilience and preparedness be better embedded into Europe’s energy transition?
• Which scientific insights should guide policy, investment and system planning?
• What governance, technological and societal measures are needed to secure a clean, competitive and robust Energy Union?
Bringing together experts from research, EU institutions and industry, the discussion will translate research into actionable policy recommendations and explore how EU research and innovation frameworks — including discussions on FP10 and the European Competitiveness Fund — can better support resilient, secure and competitive energy systems.
