We'll be exploring the responsibility designers and researchers carry when the work touches people’s lives in sensitive, emotional, or vulnerable moments.
This UXCrunch brings together practitioners working at the edges of care, ethics, and intentional design, from conducting research around difficult topics, to co-designing services that help young people process grief.
An evening about designing with empathy, restraint, and a deeper sense of duty to the people our work impacts

Jenna Maudlin - Founder & CEO @ Firefly Project
Talk: Abstract coming soon
Jenna is a seasoned product and service design leader, with a wealth of experience working across complex, regulated environments.
But beyond the 9–5, Jenna is also the founder of The Firefly Project, a non-profit empowering children and young people to navigate grief, loss and adversity.
Through trauma-informed, co-designed workshops, Firefly helps young people, educators and communities build the confidence to have compassionate conversations about grief, so no child or young person has to feel alone.
Sophie Aldebert - UX Researcher @ Citigroup
Talk: Holding Space - UX Research in Moments of Vulnerability
Sophie is a UX Researcher at Citi with a background in Chemical Engineering. She has built and scaled research practices across start-ups and global organisations, with experience spanning SaaS, energy, insurance and financial services.
At the crossroads of design, technology and strategy, she transforms research into a strategic partner. She combines scientific thinking with creativity to solve complex challenges and drive meaningful impact.
A seasoned speaker and mentor, Sophie regularly contributes to conferences, panels, and university talks, championing inclusive innovation and supporting the next generation of talent in tech.
Afreen Saulat - Founder @ 100kicks

With over eight years of experience in research and strategy, I am passionate about making technology more equitable, accessible, and global market friendly, for diverse groups of people. I founded 100kicks, a research and strategy studio that specialises in culturally competent design research, to help businesses understand and engage with their customers and stakeholders using engaging methods and outputs that go beyond a long-winded report.
