Climate Intervention at High Latitudes: A Security Simulation

​On the sidelines of the 2026 Montréal Climate Security Summit, the Center for Climate and Security and Reflective invite you to join an in-person, private tabletop exercise exploring the geopolitical and security dynamics of a fictional but plausible proposed climate intervention (specifically, stratospheric aerosol injection, or SAI) scenario. This event will be conducted under the Chatham House Rule.

​In this 2030 scenario exercise, participants will evaluate the global security and geopolitical implications of a proposed SAI deployment designed to slow rising Arctic surface temperatures. Representing various state actors, participants will use Reflective’s online SAI simulator to visualize how different deployment scenarios affect sea ice and debate the risks, trade-offs, and uncertainties of such an intervention.
