The vase is your canvas. No edges, no frame, no right way up, just a shape in your hands and a brush to tell your story.
Artists have always wandered off the canvas and onto pots, Picasso most famously, with those loose, abstract faces looking out from the side of a vase. It's a surface that invites play. Get weird with it: a pattern, a face, a stripe that doesn't quite line up. Don't like it? Paint over it.
Painting is meditative, and a much needed break from the noise of technology. Let your hands make the choice. Make a vase more interesting, fill it with flowers from the market. Plant something in it. Put it on the windowsill and let it earn its place. Or gift it to someone you love.
A full spread of color and endless possibility. Paint loose or paint precise. Whatever your skill level, there's no right or wrong here, this is a space to practice and think outside your usual constraints.
Tea provided by Anima Mundi, our neighbors here in Greenpoint. We've chosen blends for the way they shift attention and open up creativity: tulsi and gotu kola for clarity, cacao and blue lotus to enhance creativity and wandering focus.
