When Local Threads Get Heated: Reporting, Blocking & Mediation
Every local forum eventually hits a bad thread: a parking feud, a pile-on, a rumor about a neighbor. This session looks at what should happen next in the TownSpeak Ann Arbor pilot: built-in blocking and reporting, how human moderation is planned to work, double-tap to hide a thread from your own feed (it never deletes anyone else's post), and when to step offline and use local mediation instead.
We'll be upfront about limits: screen names are pseudonymous, not untraceable; face masking can't hide everything in a photo; labeled peace prompts encourage a pause but don't judge disputes or replace moderators. Mediators, moderators and longtime forum admins especially welcome.
