Sharing Things A001: An Experiment in Sharing
What becomes possible when useful things can circulate instead of sitting idle?
Many of us own tools, equipment, appliances, hosting supplies, and other objects that we use only occasionally. Other people may need those same things for a single project, gathering, trip, or experiment.
Sharing Things is a virtual Public Life Collective working group exploring how selected objects—and the knowledge, storage, transportation, and care surrounding them—might become more accessible across a community.
For this first gathering, we will begin by making existing capacity visible:
What do you need occasionally that you wish you did not have to buy?
What do you own that you might willingly lend under the right conditions?
What skills, storage space, transportation, repair knowledge, or supervision could you offer?
What boundaries would make sharing feel safe and worthwhile?
We will look for real matches, recurring needs, and the smallest useful experiment we might test together. We will also discuss owner discretion, return expectations, damage, safety, privacy, and the coordination work required to make borrowing dependable.
This is an exploratory conversation—not a lending service, formal inventory, or commitment to participate in a pilot. Attending does not obligate you to lend anything, allow anyone into your home, borrow something, or join another gathering.
Anyone may attend. You do not need to have participated in an in-person Public Life Collective Sunday or any other working group.
Bring one need, one possibility, or simply your curiosity.
