Summer Within Documentary Screening and Community Talkback
Sacred Heart Collective invites you to an evening of queer storytelling, history and community centered around the screening of Summer Within - an autobiographical, award-winning experimental documentary following trans artist Summer on an epic journey from Staten Island back to Southern Italy, where their grandmother is from.
Check out the trailer and Summer’s work here!
Through family history, travel and self-discovery, the film explores questions of belonging and home, while uncovering an ancient queer/trans lineage still present in parts of Italy today.
At a time when queer artists and histories are increasingly censored and erased, this gathering is an opportunity to come together in celebration of queer existence, cultural memory and artistic expression.
The evening will include:
• A screening of Summer Within
• A live Q&A conversation with Summer (all the way from NYC!)
• Time to mingle and connect with Denver’s queer community
Hosted by Sacred Heart Collective, this event is rooted in the belief that queer stories deserve to be seen, shared and preserved, not only as acts of visibility, but as acts of community care and resistance.
Whether you come for the film, the conversation or the chance to connect with others, we welcome you into a space of reflection, celebration and belonging.
Drinks and foodies will be available for purchase!
