Legal Engineers NYC
What Do Clients Want? Law Firm AI Governance
Clients are writing AI rules for their law firms: outside counsel guidelines that ban public AI tools, insurance carriers that require approval for each AI use or reserve the right to audit it, procurement questionnaires that ask how AI use is controlled. What does it take to meet those rules, and to prove you did?
We will bring real, published client AI requirements. Pick one and build an approach to it: the policy, tools, workflow or checks a firm would need, and how it would show the client it complied. Or show a governance tool you use or have tried, from approved-tool lists and logging to governance platforms and things you built. Laptops open; no coding required; demos encouraged. ICME Labs will show how PreFlight lets firms prove to clients that their AI followed the rules, without disclosing client data.
We finish with the group's map of what clients are asking for, the approaches that work, and the gaps nobody has solved yet.
Our first session brought 47 legal engineers to Falcon Rappaport & Berkman to test which AI tools invent case law. This one turns to the rules clients are writing for the firms that use AI.
Date: Wednesday, October 14, 4:00pm - 5:30pm
Location: Meeting Room A, 40 Wall St, 28th Floor, New York.
Legal Engineers NYC is a hands-on group for people who turn law, policy, and practice into the workflows, agents, evals, and controls that run legal work. We meet weekly on Thursdays in Manhattan, laptops open, and build something each time. Any platform counts, and no coding required.
Legal Engineers NYC is organized by ICME Labs and led by cofounder Houman Shadab. Contact houman@icme.io to host or sponsor a session.
