About Event

Books are the spark. Growth is the practice. And finding the women who get it makes all the difference.

Our Read & Reset Rituals bring women together to reflect on the books we're reading, share our takes and experiences, and figure out how to bring these ideas into real life. We're here for honest conversations about what a book brings up, what resonates, and what makes us see things a little differently.

This month, we're reading Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Joe Dispenza. The book explores how many of us run on autopilot, with the same thoughts creating the same feelings and choices, leading to the same experiences—and what it might look like to interrupt the loop.

Two ways to join: come having read the book (or some of it), or come curious to learn more about it. You don't need to finish the book—or even start it—to be part of the conversation.

The Afternoon

3:00–3:20 | Ground — A guided meditation and a cup of ceremonial-grade cacao from the Mayan lands with Sasha Sakhar of SUGARHAUS, arriving in the body and softening into the heart as a first taste of the heart-brain coherence this book explores.

3:20–4:20 | Read + Reflect — A guided conversation around the book and where its ideas meet real life. Reflection prompts and notecards give us a starting point, so anyone can join — even if you didn't finish the book or need a little convincing to start.

4:20–4:25 | Creative Integration — A simple coloring practice to reconnect with joy, settle the mind, and give you a moment to let the ideas from our conversation land.

4:25–4:45 | Connect + Close — Tea, conversation, and one small action to take with you beyond the room.

About the Book

Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Joe Dispenza explores how habitual thoughts, emotions, and behaviors keep us living from the same patterns — and offers practices for consciously creating new ones. Anyone can join — even if you didn't finish the book or need a little convincing to start.

About Books Light the Fire

Books Light the Fire, founded by Diana Chen, is a NYC-based personal growth community bringing women together through nonfiction books that spark meaningful conversations about real life — and the aha moments that change you. We read. We reflect. We laugh. We talk about the things that actually matter. Books are the spark. Growth is the practice.

About Sasha Sakhar + SUGARHAUS

Sasha Sakhar is the founder of SUGARHAUS, where safe, intentional spaces invite people to put their phones down and arrive fully present. SUGARHAUS experiences are built around live sound, ceremonial-grade cacao, and guided connection. She has worked with cacao for eight years, bringing its heart-opening ritual into modern spaces across New York. An Authentic Relating facilitator, Human Design specialist, and longtime devotee of authenticity, she designs rooms where people slow down enough to truly meet themselves and each other.

She'll open our afternoon with a grounding meditation and a cup of Soul & Spirit cacao. Follow SUGARHAUS to join upcoming cacao gatherings.

About Tzu Chi Center

Tzu Chi Center is a nonprofit community and exhibition space dedicated to compassion, education, and connection. They are deeply invested in humanitarian initiatives and creating spaces for reflection and shared learning.

We're grateful to gather in a space so aligned with the spirit of Read & Reset Rituals.
