Sign Me In, Oh Muse: lessons from the odyssey for the age of algorithms

​All of us face the challenges of being online — digital FOMO, the allure of perfectly curated algorithms, and the doom-scroll trap.

​We're often told that the only solution is to just not be online — to touch grass, take a social media break, or go off the algorithm.

​But what if the goal is not to leave the internet, but to learn how to navigate the twists & turns of the landscape? How do we find our way through the dangers of the internet to our own personal Ithaca?

​Join us for an experimental workshop using themes of the Odyssey to help us reflect on the ways we wander the 'net. We will discuss how to avoid eating the lotus, how to extend xenia (guest-friendship or Zeus' law) to others, and how to make our time online feel good.
