About Event

Join the AI Cafe—a structured space for public conversation and dialogue on AI. At the AI Cafe, we welcome people who bring their own topics, interesting tidbits, or questions and concerns about AI, or who simply come to listen and learn from others. Whether you're enthusiastic or skeptical about AI, and whether you have expert knowledge or only basic familiarity, you have a seat at our table!

Participation is free. We host weekly discussion sessions and often invite contributors to join us and lead a discussion.

📆 On November 3, we will be joined by Debra Swack. Debra's work explores questions about AI emotions through an evolving art project she has developed over 20 years, using successive generations of technology. At this session, we will discuss how AI emotion systems affect our identity, influence trust, and raise questions about bias in an increasingly automated world.

💡About Debra Swack: Debra Swack is an interdisciplinary artist working at the intersection of art, science, and technology. With degrees in studio art and computer science, she has spent decades investigating how emerging technologies shape how we perceive ourselves, our environment, and the world we share. Her participatory and immersive installations span AI-generated imagery, digital media, sound, and interactive environments, addressing emotional expression, identity, climate change, monuments and memorialization, animal displacement, and the broader social and cultural consequences of technological innovation.
