Fosterton ecohouse open house
This new-build ecohouse has been designed and built by Ran Boydell as a demonstrator for his ‘Ecohus’ architectural design practice. It is fully off-grid and based on passive solar and circular economy design principles. The walls are prefabricated panels with straw insulation and lime render, supplied and installed by Sam Vivers of Viva Living Homes. It went from foundations to roof-on in 3 weeks just before Christmas, and by the time of the open day much of the interior fitout will have progressed, with practical completion planned for April, so this is a unique opportunity to see work in progress on an ecohouse and discuss details with designers and suppliers.
It’s less than 10 minute drive from the town centre, and the Fosterton Loop is a popular cycling route. Train services to Dungog are limited on Saturdays, but we can help with transfers to and from the station if you let us know in advance.
And in case you'd like to make a weekend of it in Dungog, Wendy Matthews is playing at the James Theatre on Saturday night https://www.jamestheatre.com.au/event-details/wendy-matthews-band-in-concert or you can go for a hike in the beautiful Barrington Tops https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/visit-a-park/parks/barrington-tops-national-park
