The One About Embodied & Embedded AI
As AI increasingly powers robots that move, sense, and interact, it is also being embedded across factories and supply chains. Join us to hear how these approaches are shaping more adaptive, resilient, and trustworthy physical systems.
More About the Sharings
New Ai Peng (CTO & Director, NRP) Insights into Robotics and AI
Ai Peng will share an overview of the National Robotics Programme (NRP) and Singapore’s embodied AI landscape, linking this to national efforts. While robotics has always used AI, Robotics Foundation Models (RFM) are a newer approach, one of the technologies supporting robotics. (Technical Level: 200)
Dr Kendrik Lim (Postdoctoral Fellow, MIT) Embedded AI Systems for Manufacturing Resilience
Despite decades of automation investment, manufacturing disruptions still paralyze operations due to the disconnect between high-level supply chain policies and ground-level production execution. In today's era of constant uncertainty, companies must pivot faster than competitors to survive and thrive. Dr Lim will explore a paradigm shift from passive data monitoring to active intelligence: systems that sense disruption propagation, reason through complex constraints using causal inference, and respond by translating high-level strategy into immediate, actionable workflows. Discover how to redesign industrial systems at the intersection of supply chain, manufacturing, and system design to build self-healing networks with explainable AI. (Technical Level: 200)
More About the Speakers
Ai Peng is the Director of Capability Development at the National Robotics Programme, where he formulates Singapore's robotics R&D strategy to build capabilities for economic capture and societal impact. Previously Deputy Director at MINDEF's Future System & Technology Directorate, he oversaw robotics and army systems R&D master planning and investment. Ai Peng spent 15 years at DSO National Laboratories, where he started the Robotics Autonomy programme and completed a scientist exchange at Carnegie Mellon University.
Dr. Kendrik Yan Hong Lim is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, specializing in Industrial Resilience. His research integrates human-centric design, AI-enabled reasoning, and systems engineering for human-AI-machine collaboration. Dr. Kendrik earned his Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore and his M.Sc. from Chiba University, Japan, and previously served at Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). A board member of the International Society of Transdisciplinary Engineering, he has received multiple awards in research, industry-led competitions, and public service, with interests in engineering design and informatics.
