About Event

The Amazon is one of the planet’s most vital yet vulnerable biomes. Indigenous, riverine, quilombola, and extractivist communities have long led territorial Climate Action Plans, combining local knowledge and adaptation strategies, but still face barriers to climate finance.

This COP30 side event spotlights how innovative financial instruments like the Tropical Forest Finance Facility (TFFF) can help scale community-driven forest conservation and local development. It brings together grassroots experiences, regional cooperation, and financial innovation to advance climate justice and Amazonian leadership toward implementing Brazil’s NDC and global adaptation goals.

Speakers:

  • Virgílio Viana, General Director, Foundation for Amazon Sustainability (FAS) – Moderator

  • Juliane Menezes, Project Coordinator, Foundation for Amazon Sustainability (FAS)

  • Sila Mesquita, General Coordinator, Amazon Working Group Network (Rede GTA)

  • Pakhi Das, Public Policy Advisor, Plant-for-the-Planet

  • Sineia do Vale, Co-chair, Indigenous Peoples Caucus of the UNFCCC
