About Event

We are thrilled to announce our first meetup as the Rust UAE Community! This online event is an opportunity to connect and lay the groundwork for our collective vision and future.

We are honoured to host two inspiring talks from renowned figures in the Rust ecosystem: Niko Matsakis and Jack Huey from the Vision Team.

Speakers

Jack Huey:

Rust's Next Decade: Growing from Adoption to Maturity
Rust's first decade was about adoption. Now we're entering the era where Rust matures: finding ground in the harder-to-enter domains and regions where it isn't yet established. For the last decade, the Rust Project has been largely focused on broad adoption by building a language that does the core things well: reliability, versatility, and performance. However, now that Rust usage is really taking root in many places, maturing means shifting to identifying where Rust adoption isn't happening (or is happening more slowly) and specifically working to address it. Over the past year, the Rust Project began this work through the Vision Doc effort, in which we surveyed 5,500 people and conducted 70+ interviews. Interestingly, one of the big things we found was the importance of community in Rust adoption: being able to connect with others working on similar things not only helps people learn Rust, but helps to build a foundational layer that widespread and lasting adoption can build on.

Niko Matsakis:

Symposium: Rust the AI way
Agentic development is rapidly transforming the way people write code. Rust is proving to be a popular choice for agent development thanks to its efficient execution (which saves money!) and strict type system (which provides guardrails that keep agents on track!). But as good as Rust is, we think it could be better! This talk describes Symposium and Battery Packs, two complementary efforts that together help ensure AI agents make the best possible use of Rust.isn't happening as quickly) and but also helps
