(Un)weaving
In this workshop, we’ll explore how woven structures and thread colours interact to create patterns - but in reverse. Rather than starting from a draft, we’ll unravel woven fabric swatches, closely observe what’s happening, and use notation to record what we discover. To bring it all together, we’ll use adaCAD to simulate our samples, helping connect the physical fabrics to their underlying structures.
This workshop is for anyone interested in weaving and how woven patterns work. Swatches will be provided, but if you have a scrap of woven fabric you’re willing to sacrifice, feel free to bring it along. Please also bring a laptop (if you have one) so you can use adaCAD (no installation required).
Facilitated by Alex McLean.
