Power the Block: East Flatbush Infrastructure Walkshop
Every time you turn on a light or charge your phone, you're drawing on a network of substations, service centers, and power lines that runs through our own blocks. Join Brooklyn Level Up (BKLVLUP) and GROUND3D for a free walking tour through East Flatbush, Remsen Village, and Canarsie to see that energy infrastructure up close. Along the way, we'll talk about what it means for our community's health, safety, and future.
We'll gather at De Event Room and walk to Railroad Playground, the Con Edison Gateway Park Substation, and National Grid's Canarsie Service Center. The tour ends at the Wyckoff House Museum, home to the oldest building in New York City. At each stop, local advocates and invited speakers will explain how the energy system works, who makes decisions about it, and how residents can help shape a cleaner, more resilient energy future for Central Brooklyn.
The walk is free and open to all. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.
