About Event

Poet Deema Shehabi, in collaboration with the ASEEL collective, brings together poets in celebration of women artists. We'll hear readings from Shehabi as well as:

Sara Borjas, Fresno poet and Oakland resident, Xicanx writer and professor, and author of Heart Like a Window, Mouth Like a Cliff.

Shadab Zeest Hashmi is a Pakistani-American poet and essayist whose works include two poetry collections Kohl and Chalk and Baker of Tarifa, a volume of essays and poetry titled Ghazal Cosmopolitan, and Comb, a lyric memoir.

Persis Karim is a poet, writer, editor, and professor. She's authored many works and was the Director of the Center for Iranian Diaspora Studies at San Francisco State University.

Nathalie Khankan is the author of the author of quiet orient riot, among other works. She teaches Arabic language and literature in the Department of Near Eastern Studies at UC Berkeley.

Priscilla Wathington is a Palestinian American poet/editor and the author of the chapbook, Paper and Stick.
