Zcash Network State Hackathon
Welcome to the Zcash Network State hackathon, a one day hackathon on content and code to build the machinery of freedom.
We'll kick off Thursday morning at 10am with an intro to Zcash, and get everyone onboarded to the Zodl wallet. Then we'll start the hackathon at 11am, work through the day, get a healthy amount of sleep, and finish up on Friday. The best teams will pitch their work at the NS Showcase on Friday at 3pm.
We have 50 ZEC in prizes, which as of writing this is a 10k+ USD prize pool. We will also have mentors at the library to help you ideate and discuss technical challenges, while you are free to hack on this from anywhere on campus. Submit your projects on ns.com/zcash by 1pm Friday.
There are two tracks: content and code.
Content
The content projects are about creating high-density, high quality vertical videos that you’d be proud to post to your profile and that might be good enough to post to ns.
Code
The code projects don’t need to be cryptography, but they should be polished and useful.
AI Policy
One thing we want to emphasize: no AI slop. If your project has obvious AI tells, like AI copy on the landing page, or “it’s not this, it’s that” in the copy, or uses AI-generated images or videos in low quality ways, it won’t qualify. When in doubt, disclose which pieces are AI and which pieces you manually edited, so that we can focus on the parts you took care with.
One possible rubric: good AI use is so good that it’s under the hood. That is to say, you can’t tell it’s AI, because it’s used so skillfully.
See you soon!
