our little monkey is turning one!
on sunday, august 23, from 4 pm to 6 pm, we are celebrating gmtc’s first birthday with a doljanchi (돌잔치)—the traditional korean celebration honoring a child's healthy first year of life. and we would be honored to celebrate this special milestone with you!
🎂 there will be a selection of food and drinks prepared and shared by our friends and artists, including hana makgeolli, sikhye, white kimchi cold noodles, zucchini jeon, and lemon-flavored birthday cake.
🫳 at 5 pm, we will gather for our doljabi (돌잡이) reimagined as a participatory fortune-telling raffle where guests guess which object the monkey will choose to foretell gmtc’s future. we will also be launching several exclusive merchandise. featured items include: custom chopsticks and chopstick holders, handmade bags resembling a monkey’s tail, and a new book and blanket created from jenny wu’s ‘gmtc sessions’.
