Brief about the talk

In this session, Usman will walk through a practical workflow for using Cursor to contribute to open source projects—from picking a good first issue to shipping a review-friendly PR. We’ll cover how to move faster without sacrificing code quality: keeping diffs tight, writing clear PR descriptions, running tests, and collaborating smoothly with maintainers. Expect real examples, a lightweight checklist, and a demo-style walkthrough.

About the speaker

Usman Siddique is a software engineer and AI tinkerer who’s spent years building real-world products—breaking things, fixing them, and occasionally wondering why it worked in prod. His work blends solid engineering fundamentals with a growing obsession for AI coding tools, helping teams ship faster, write cleaner code, and argue less with their linter. At Motive, a global technology company, he works alongside ML and R&D teams on core products, turning ambitious ideas into production-ready software used at scale.
